Join Dr. Wycoff for this new and extremly exciting seminar. Dr. Wycoff will be discussing in detail a new treatment available at the Wycoff Wellness Center - Alpha Lipoic Acid Infusions (ALA)! ALA can be used for a variety of medical conditions as listed below. It is also part of our Comprehensive Alternative Cancer Treatment Protocal.
The Wycoff Wellness Center has also introduced Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) as a treatment option for a number of medical conditions including autoimmune illnesses and cancer. LDN is a cutting edge treatment that holds tremendous promise for the treatment of many chronic disease states.
Alpha Lipoic Acid (also known as lipoic acid, thioctic acid or ALA) is one of the good fatty acids produced in every one of our cells. One of its main functions is to help convert glucose (blood sugar) into energy. About forty years ago, biologists discovered that ALA is also an antioxidant—a powerful substance that combats potentially harmful chemicals called free radicals which may cause heart and liver disease, cancer, cell aging, and many other conditions.
There are other very effective antioxidants, including vitamins C and E. But what's special about ALA is that it is both water and fat soluble. Scientists believe that ALA operates in conjunction with vitamins C and E, and the antioxidant glutathione, recycling them when they're used up. Many studies have been conducted confirming the health benefits of alpha-lipoic acid, including recent findings that ALA offers neuroprotective and possibly cognitive enhancing effects.
ALA is manufactured by the body and is found in small amounts in several foods. These include spinach, broccoli, peas, Brewer's yeast, Brussels sprouts, rice bran, potatoes and organ meats (kidney, heart and liver)...
Why Take ALA?
Besides taking ALA for its general benefits as an antioxidant, studies have shown that alpha lipoic acid can help with the following conditions:
IV alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is used to treat cancer (especially pancreatic cancer with metastasis), neuropathy and chronic liver disease. It is a powerful antioxidant, like vitamin C and E, and helps to protect cells from oxidative damage.
Cancer Treatment
Dr. Burton Berkson and D. Rubin are pioneers in IV ALA administration to patients. We use these pioneer’s protocols at our clinic for our patients with cancer including metastatic caners.
Burton and Rubin describe the long-term survival of a patient with pancreatic cancer with liver metastasis using intravenous alpha-lipoic acid and low-dose naltrexone orally. The patient was told by a reputable university oncology center that there was little hope for his survival. The patient, with the above treatment, is alive and well 78 months after initial presentation. The authors report he is back at work, free from symptoms, and without appreciable progression of his malignancy. Since the first case the authors report 3 other cases of pancreatic cancer with metastasis and report one is alive and well 39 months after diagnosis, and the other two cases have had PET scans after 4-5 months of therapy that show no evidence of disease.
Benefits of IV alpha lipoic acid:
Is It Safe?
We have found that intravenous alpha lipoic acid is safe to administer. Preparation before the IV is important as alpha lipoic acid may cause a drop in your blood sugar. We recommend that patients be well hydrated and have eaten before each infusion. The most severe reactions we’ve experienced are patients feeling nausea following the treatment, which clears in a short time after the therapy.
