Female....mid 50's.....hormonal imbalance. This combination can generate a long, dirty laundry list of symptoms. I seemed to have my share and here they are:
- Hot flashes
- Bone loss
- Sleep disturbances
- Loss of scalp hair
- Anxiety
- Loss of eye lashes
- Brittle nails
- Vaginal dryness
- Sugar cravings
- Memory lapse
I had spoken with my gynecologist about several of these symptoms and she said there there wasn't anything available to help. I just had to live with them. I was not satisfied with that response!. My long time hairdresser asked me at an appointment if I had my thyroid tested recently and if I ate enough protein. My primary care physician had tested my thyroid and results said that there was no problem.
I knew that there must be options available for these problems. It was 2007 for heaven's sake. There was no need to just live with them. I had heard of Dr. Wycoff and decided that he might be able to help.
I went through the testing process and got a treatment plan. Yes, there are ways to treat symptoms of hormonal imbalance. I take bioidentical estrogen and progesterone. Because of proper testing, I know that I have hypothyroidism and take meds for that. I have a regimen of supplements to improve my health. I needed to double the number of grams of protein that I was eating. This helps to decrease sugar cravings, increase energy levels, and keeps me feeling satisfied longer between meals. It is essential for me to get at least 25 grams of protein in the morning. This impacts my entire day.
I am extremely grateful to Dr. Wycoff. His knowledge and suggestions have greatly improved my health. I retired this year after 33 years in education and wanted to be able to enjoy this period in my life. I can now do that. Thank you to Dr. Wycoff and his staff at the Wycoff Wellness Center.
